3rd INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON LANGUAGE LEARNING & TEACHING 2021

December 24, 2021 – December 25, 2021

The society and its people change and develop, and through this growth, language evolves and education shifts. Teachers have new roles, teaching tools have new interfaces, learning materials have become borderless, and learners have become invisible. These are parts of transformation in education that are exciting and should be embraced and further explored. Furthermore, language, being one of the essential requirements for employment and survival as well as a factor for better human potential, makes it fascinating to explore the education shift and its global trends in language teaching and learning.

To embrace this transformation and the 21st century education change, the Centre for Modern Languages (CML), Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP), Malaysia, in collaboration with Universitas Ahmad Dahlan, UAD JogJakarta, Indonesia, aims to organize the International Conference on Language Learning and Teaching 2021 (ICoLLT2021), in virtual mode. ICoLLT2021 will be staged in virtual mode to cater to travel constraints as well as to observe social distancing due to the Covid19 pandemic. Conference participants will view the conference through live-streaming as well as virtually through video presentations.  Updates on the live broadcast will be announced on the website nearer the time.

Through this conference, CML also aims to extend the partnership between UMP and UAD, in which this collaboration will witness bilateral correspondence between CML and UAD. This would be CML and UAD's second collaboration. The first was Webinar on English Language Learning and Teaching (WELLT2020) which took place on 28 October 2020. Such cooperation will be a channel for the enhancement of knowledge and best practices in the learning and teaching of languages, while addressing the micro and global issues currently permeating the field.

In general, the conference aims to address the issues and approaches of transformative education in the area of language learning and teaching while at the same time reflecting on the positive impacts of conventional approaches. While giving much focus on the issues of learning and teaching of the English language, this conference also celebrates other languages such as Indonesian, Mandarin, German, Arabic, Spanish, Japanese and of course the Malay language. The scope of this conference therefore covers all modern languages learnt and taught in school and tertiary institutions whether as a second language or a foreign language. The conference will also work as a platform to introduce innovative and best practices in language learning and teaching through CInTELL, a poster exhibition competition.
